It’s a Knockout! Comicpalooza Welcomes Carl Weathers

HOUSTON, TX - Comicpalooza is pleased to announce Carl Weathers will join the all-star 2016 guest line-up. The football player turned Hollywood actor is best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky film franchise. Celebrating the film’s 40th anniversary, the 1976 “sleeper” had fans wanting more. Weathers also held other major supporting roles including the cigar smoking Major George Dillon in Predator and the unforgettable Chubbs Peterson from Happy Gilmore. Comicpalooza will convene on June 17-19, 2016 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

In addition to high-profile guest appearances, Comicpalooza offers more than 2,000 hours of programming that appeal to a multi-generational audience. Among the highlights, the pop culture event presents 1,000 hours of tabletop and video gaming tournaments; a film festival presented by Crypt TV; Texas’ largest literary conference; CodeFest 2.3 presented by Houston Community College; a fashion show hosted by  Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Japan’s largest J-Fashion design house; an artist alley with more than 200 regional artists; a makerspace where modern marvels come to life; and much more.

As the event quickly approaches, Comicpalooza partnered with Growtix, an event management software company, to produce an app to house all of the updated event schedules, celebrity profiles and venue maps. Guests can download the app for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Comicpalooza will host the largest Aliens cast reunion ever featuring Sigourney Weaver, Bill Paxton, Paul Reiser, Michael Biehn, William Hope, Jenette Goldstein, Mark Rolston and Carrie Henn as well as other Aliens cast members. Other notable appearances include Underworld star Kate Beckinsale, Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) along with Sean Patrick Flanery and the cast of The Boondock Saints, world-renowned wrestler Ric Flair®, Lennie James (The Walking Dead), Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk), Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Walter Koenig (Star Trek), Kel Mitchell (Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers), David Prowse (Darth Vader, Star Wars), notable authors Leslie S. Klinger, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Mercedes Lackey, and Kevin Anderson as well as comic book greats Adam Kubert, John Ostrander and Mike Zeck.
