The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch Garners National Award

The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch Garners National Award

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (December 19, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch has been honored by The National Association of Town Watch for their efforts during the 2017 National Night Out Campaign, with the top prize in Category #2 for Populations 100,000 to 300,000.

“This award is the result of an outstanding team effort,” said Marian Leck, director of Township Law Enforcement Services. “Thanks to the entire department who worked with Neighborhood Watch volunteers to host National Night Out parties throughout The Woodlands, and The Woodlands Township Board of Directors for their support.”

The Township thanks the many team members of Neighborhood Watch who contributed to this recognition. The Township also thanks its public safety partners: the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Constable’s Office - Precinct 4 and The Woodlands Fire Department.

“These public safety partnerships are an essential part of all Township crime and fire prevention programming throughout the year,” said Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch. “We are thankful for our many public safety officials and first responders who help to keep The Woodlands safe.”

The Township also collaborated on the State of Texas, which also took first place in its category. The Woodlands Township has been participating in National Night Out since 1990, and it has been producing award-winning crime prevention programming since 1984.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out is designed to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch supports National Night Out by helping residents to host National Night Out parties, hosting the Community Safety Expo and a variety of public safety open houses, along with providing ongoing resources about safety for the community.
