CONROE, TEXAS - NOVEMBER 2017:  The following events are planned for adults, children, young adults, and their families in November 2017 at Central Library, 104 I-45 North, Conroe, Texas.

Wednesday, November 1st at 2:00pm – Creating Resumes

Get noticed! Learn how to develop professional applications, resumes, references, cover letters, and thank you letters that make the most impact with employers and demonstrate that you are the right person for the job.

 

Saturday, November 4th at 2:00pm – International Game Day

An annual celebration of games! Adults, teens, and children can play Wii, board games, cards, along with a Pokemon Go Lure every 30 minutes. Drinks provided.

 

Monday, November 13th at 5:30 pm – Teen Movie Night “Harry Potter” Series

For ages 13-17.  Teens, we are celebrating 20 years of Harry Potter!  Join us for the fifth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, rated PG-13.  Runtime: 2hours and 22 minutes. No registration required.

 

Monday, November 20th at 5:30 pm – Teen Movie Night “Harry Potter” Series

For ages 13-17.  Teens, we are celebrating 20 years of Harry Potter!  Join us for the sixth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, rated PG.  Runtime: 2hours and 33 minutes. No registration required.

 

Monday, November 27th at 5:30 pm – Teen Movie Night “Harry Potter” Series

For ages 13-17.  Teens, we are celebrating 20 years of Harry Potter!  Join us for the seventh and final film in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, rated PG-13.  Runtime: 2hours and 27 minutes. No registration required.

 

Monthly or Bi-Monthly Events at the Library

First Thursday, November 2nd at 3:45 pm – Pre-Teen Book Club

All kids ages 9-12 years old are invited to join us for our preteen book club in our Children's Activity Room.  We meet once every month to discuss our favorite books.  A light snack and fun activity included!  (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your preteen is participating in the book club.) 

 

Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00 pm – Adult Historical Fiction Book Club

Join us for tea, snacks, and discussion! We will be reading a different work of Historical Fiction each month and discussing at the meetings. Meetings take place on one Thursday a month in the evening from 6 - 8PM.

 

First Saturday, November 4, 2017  10-11:30 am - Spanish Computer Class/Clase de Computación en Español

Computer and MS Word Basics—Using the mouse, keyboard, and computer vocabulary. Microsoft Windows elements. Project: Creating a business letter.

Introducción al uso del ratón y teclado.  Conceptos básicos de Windows Word.Crear, guardar, abrir e imprimir un documento. 

 

Montgomery County Memorial Library System is now offering Spanish computer classes starting in November. The 6-month series runs the first Saturday of every month from 10:00-11:30 AM, November 2017-April 2018. 

Una serie de 6 clases de computación en español se impartirán en la biblioteca Central de Conroe y serán el primer sábado de cada mes, Noviembre hasta Abril de 10:00 a 11:30 de la mañana.

 

Second Thursday, November 9th at 3:45 pm - LEGO® and DUPLO® Fun

Kids of all ages are invited to come to build their own creation using Legos® and Duplos® during the hour of 3:45 - 4:45pm in our Children's Activity Room!  Parents are asked to remain in the room with their children under age 13. 

 

Second and Fourth Tuesday, November 14th and 28th at 5:00 pm – Needlecraft: A Good Yarn!

Crocheters, knitters, spinners, and other textile artists are welcome for fellowship and conversation! Bring your own work-in-progress and supplies and join us in the first floor small meeting room at the Central Library. If you would like to learn knitting or crochet, please come by.

 

Thursday, November 16th at 5:00 pm – Family Storytime

Families with children of all ages are invited to learn about new books, play board games and other family activities, and make an easy craft. This is a new, monthly program.

 

Tuesday, November 21st at 2:00 pm – Toddler Playdate

Ages 0-3 enjoy a come-and-go program that encourages independent toddler play and socialization with educational toys and board books. Miss Brandy looks forward to seeing everyone for a wonderful playdate! This is a new, monthly program.

 

Third Tuesday, November 21st at 3:45 pm – R.E.A.D.® to the Dogs

All kids ages 4-12 years old are invited to come and practice their reading skills with the Montgomery Pet Partners therapy dog teams in our Children's Activity Room.  Each child can select a favorite book to read to one of the trained therapy dogs assisted by their owner/trainer. (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your child is participating.)

 

Third Tuesday, November 21st from 5:30-7:00 pm – Teen Gaming

Hang out with other teens and play Wii, card, and board games every third Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7:00pm. Ages 13-17 are welcome.

 

Last Thursday, November 30th at 6:30 pm – Spanish Conversation Club

Do you speak Spanish and want to practice it in a relaxed setting?   Join us!  No sign up needed. Basic conversational skill in Spanish is required for participation. A native Spanish speaker will facilitate this program. Veteran’s Day – November 10-11 all MCMLS branches closed

November 22 – Central Library closes early at 5:00pm

Thanksgiving – November 23-25 all MCMLS branches closed
