Natural Pawz Thanksgiving Tipz & Trickz

HOUSTON, Texas - By: Kendrick Viele (Natural Pawz - River Oaks Manager) - Dogs and Cats are more likely to make Santa Pawz's Naughty List if they are bored. During the holidays, we are more likely to be at home with the family; cooking, watching football, or however your family celebrates, our pets usually get less attention and activity. Having interactive toys and puzzles or edible chews can keep them busy, and a busy dog is a good dog.

We all have a relative that loves to feed our pets pizza and ice cream. Please resist the temptation to share your holiday meals with your pet, and ask your friends and family to do the same. Salt, spices, and other ingredients in the food we share with them can have serious consequences. If you want your animals to share the spirit of the season, Natural Pawz has a wide variety of fall-themed meals, pumpkin treats, and fun holiday toys.

In case your pets eat something they shouldn't, it's always good to have something for an upset stomach. Having some of Grandma Lucy's Rescue Remedy, a can of pumpkin, or some Honest Kitchen Perfect Form can help with any digestive issues they may have over the holidays.

Some pets can experience some anxiety during the holidays. Throwing a party or having the family over can be stressful for our animals, and I like to have some calming treats ready in my pantry. They work best when given before the party, once your pets are anxious the calming treats are less effective.  My favorite brands are the Ark Natural Happy Traveler and the Herbsmith July Third.

Any animal that has arthritis or joint pain is going to be experiencing more discomfort during the colder winter months than during the heat of the summer. For dogs with stiff joints, I recommend starting or increasing usage of joint supplements as well as supplementing Herbsmith Soothe Joints and Comfort Aches. Maintaining a healthy weight can also help to manage arthritic symptoms, and we carry a wide variety of weight maintenance formulas that are both tasty and natural. Feeding foods with warming proteins like Lamb or Venison can also help your animals feeling well through the season.
