CONROE, TEXAS - The following events are planned for adults, children, young adults, and their families in March 2018 at Central Library, 104 I-45 North, Conroe, Texas.

Thursday-Saturday, March 1st-3rd – Spring Book Sale

It's time again for the Library Friends of Conroe Spring Book Sale!

March 1st open from 4:30 pm -8:00 pm, March 2nd open from 9:00 am-4:30 pm, March 3rd open from9:00 am-3:00 pm.


Tuesday, March 6th at 2:00 pm– CSI: Real Life vs. Fiction

How does forensics help investigators solve crimes? Is it really like what is shown on the CSI television series? Meet a local forensics expert and find out how they really operate. Children under 13 years old may only attend with an adult. No registration required.


Monday, March 19th at 2pm – Gardening with Bob Dailey: Composting

Don't throw that away! Learn how to turn kitchen scraps and other biodegradable items into rich compost for your yard and garden. No registration required.


Wednesday, March 28th at 10:30am – Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt Storytime

All children ages Birth - 6 years old and their adult caregiver are invited to join us this Wednesday for our annual "Easter Bunny Storytime"!  The 'Easter Bunny' will join us to hide the eggs and visit with all the children for a photo!  Special crafts and snacks will make it an extra-special day for everyone!  Don't forget your basket, or bucket! Parents may bring (6) plastic eggs filled with individually wrapped candy or small appropriate non-food item, to help the 'Easter Bunny'.


VITA Tax Assistance

Fridays and Saturdays on March 9th,10th,16th,17th,23rd,24th from 10am-4pm

VITA tax assistance is provided by organizations trained to handle income tax filing. Library staff are unable to provide answers to questions related to filing, and the library is not responsible for assistance provided by these organizations.


Monthly or Bi-Monthly Events at the Library

First Thursday, March 1st at 3:45 pm – Pre-Teen Book Club

All kids ages 9-12 years old are invited to join us for our preteen book club in our Children's Activity Room.  We meet once every month to discuss our favorite books.  A light snack and fun activity included!  (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your preteen is participating in the book club.) 


First Saturday, March 3rd at 10:00 am - Computer Basics in Spanish for Adults

Learn the basic concepts to use a computer, to practice the necessary skills to create a document, and navigate the internet.  Six classes only.  First Saturdays of the month, from 10-11:30 in the computer lab. The lab runs until May 5th, 2018. The class is in Spanish and for adults only.


Second Thursday, March 8th at 3:45 pm - LEGO® and DUPLO® Fun

Kids of all ages are invited to come to build their own creation using Legos® and Duplos® during the hour of 3:45 - 4:45pm in our Children's Activity Room!  Parents are asked to remain in the room with their children under age 13. 


Thursday, March 8th at 6:00 pm – Adult Historical Fiction Book Club

Join us for tea, snacks, and discussion! We will be reading a different work of Historical Fiction each month and discussing at the meetings. Meetings take place on one Thursday a month in the evening from 6 - 8PM.


Second and Fourth Tuesday, March 13th and 27th at 5:00 pm – Needlecraft: A Good Yarn!

Crocheters, knitters, spinners, and other textile artists are welcome for fellowship and conversation! Bring your own work-in-progress and supplies and join us in the first floor small meeting room at the Central Library. If you would like to learn knitting or crochet, please come by.


Third Tuesday, March 20th at 2:00 pm – Toddler Playdate

Ages 0-3 enjoy a come-and-go program that encourages independent toddler play and socialization with educational toys and board books. Miss Brandy looks forward to seeing everyone for a wonderful playdate! This is a new, monthly program.


Third Tuesday, March 20th at 3:45 pm – R.E.A.D.® to the Dogs

All kids ages 4-12 years old are invited to come and practice their reading skills with the Montgomery Pet Partners therapy dog teams in our Children's Activity Room.  Each child can select a favorite book to read to one of the trained therapy dogs assisted by their owner/trainer. (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your child is participating.)


Third Tuesday, March 20th from 5:30pm-7:00pm - Teen Gaming

Hang out with other teens and play Wii, card, and board games every third Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7:00pm. Ages 13-17 are welcome.


Thursday, March 22nd at 6:00 pm – Family FunQuest

Families with children of all ages are invited to learn about new books, play board games and other family activities, and make an easy craft.

Wednesdays at 10:30 am – Preschooler Storytime – Ages 3-6 years

Thursdays at 10:00 am – Baby and Me – Ages Birth-18 mo.

Thursdays at 10:30 am – Toddler Storytime – Ages 18 mo.-3 years

Easter – March 30th and 31st all MCMLS branches closed
