Local Course Celebrates Grand Opening of Golf Academy

MAGNOLIA, TEXAS (Tuesday, January 2, 2018) - Anyone interested in learning about golf is invited to the grand opening of High Meadow Ranch Golf Academy on Saturday, January 20, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Festivities planned for the event include free barbecue; putting, chipping and longest-drive contests; a "Break the Glass" competition; a life-sized dart board; fitness demonstrations; and Trackman demonstrations and competitions.

Details of the Grand Opening Celebration include:

  • The Break the Glass challenge is based on the Golf Channel's popular show, Big Break. Players receive points based on whether they break a 2x2 foot pane of glass from 15 yards away by chipping golf balls at it.
  • TrackMan radar technology helps golfers understand key data parameters about their golf swing, including ball speed, attack angle, club path, face angle and more. It captures the golf swing with a built-in HD video camera or with the use of external cameras. It also enables users to play and practice on virtual courses, including Pebble Beach and St Andrews.
  • Juniors can chip tennis balls onto a 10-foot blow up Velcro dart board.
  • Golf instructor Roger Stebbins will demonstrate various workouts geared for golfers in the weight room.
  • Prizes include golf balls; drawstring bags with the HMR Academy logo; golf hats with the HMR Academy logo and more.
  • Free barbecue served throughout the event.

HMR Golf Academy, sponsored by Allied Siding & Windows, includes three hitting bays equipped with turf, a workout/meeting room, a club room, instructor's offices and a restroom. The Academy provides a learning and training center for those in the community who are interested in the game of golf, as well as to build HMR's Player Development Program. The Player Development Program provides unlimited use of the practice facility driving range, unlimited range balls and discounts on lessons from instructors.

"The goal of the HMR Golf Academy is to give users a premiere learning experience so they can actively improve their golf game, while working with our instructors in the facility," says Cody Spivey, general manager of HMR Golf Club. " We have outstanding instructors, including Roger Stebbins, with 16 years’ experience; Nick Gerber, with six years' experience; and Matt Cook, with more than 20 years' experience."

Leonard Courtright, owner and president of Allied Siding & Windows, believes HMR Golf Academy provides a terrific resource for local families.

"Golf is a terrific game for families to learn and play together, and it's also a game in which young people can learn and excel given the proper tools and exposure," Courtright says. "When High Meadow Ranch shared its vision for this facility, we donated materials to help make the vision possible because we believe it's a great way to positively impact the many families in the area who are and who will be our customers."

The HMR Golf Academy is open to anyone receiving private lessons from the instructors and anyone in the Player Development Program, which costs $55 for individual members or $95 for a family per month. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

HMR Golf Academy is located in the back of the driving range at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club, 37300 Golf Club Trail, Magnolia, TX 77355. For more information, call 281-356-7700 or visit www.highmeadowranchgolf.com.
