February 10, 2018 Concert Scheduled Sponsored For Conroe Symphony Orchestra

CONROE, TX - The Conroe Symphony Orchestra presents "Love is Always in the Air" at7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Conroe High School,

located at 3200 W. Davis Street (SH 105), in Conroe.

The Symphony, currently in its 21st season, will be under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Dr. Don Hutson.  Following the traditional Star Spangled Banner,

the evening begins with Nabucco Overture by Giuseppe Verdi. Then Violin Concerto D Major by Tchaikovsky will feature Douglas Kwon along with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Douglas Kwon is currently pursuing Doctoral of Music as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Brian Lewis at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Kwon earned Bachelor of Music, Masters of Music in Chamber, and Professional Diploma at San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Ian Swnesen, Li Lin and Wei He. As a chamber musician, Douglas has collaborated with Menahem Pressler, Pedja Muzijevic, Roberto Diaz, Kim Kashkashain and members of Cleveland, Concord, Ravel, Ives and St. Lawrence quartet. He has performed as a soloist with Austin Civic, University Orchestra at UT Austin, SFCM Orchestra and University of Calgary Orchestra. Douglas also has been a grand prize winner of 2017 Texas Young Artist Competition and a semi- finalist for Wieniawski international competition. As an orchestral player, he had privilege of working with Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Andris Nelsons, Jaap van Zweden, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and Simon Rattle. Douglas has played with Houston Symphony and is a member of Austin Symphony and Austin Lyric Opera. For the past summers, he has participated in Morningside Music Bridge, Meadowmount School of Music, Tanglewood Music Center and Toronto Summer Music Festival. From fall 2017, Douglas joins Toronto Symphony Orchestra as a rotating section violin player.


After a brief intermission, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra plays some familiar romantic favorites,Tara from Gone with the Wind, Simple Gifts from Appalachian Springs

and Morning from Peer Gynt.  This will be an evening of beautiful romantic music enjoyed by all!


All Conroe Symphony Orchestra concerts are held at Conroe High School, located at 3200 W. Davis Street (SH 105) in Conroe. Tickets for individual concerts are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under, with special rates available for groups of 10 or more. Tickets may be purchased at the Conroe Symphony Centre, 1500 N Frazier #3, in Conroe

(please call for hours) or may be ordered by calling the Symphony Centre at 936-760-2144. Tickets for the performances will also be available at the door prior to each concert.
