Editorial - Superbowl Visitors Will Give Houston-Area A Chance To Really Shine

Superbowl Visitors, Welcome To Houston!

By Bob Gunner, Editor & Publisher - In the next few days all of our coverage areas will notice an influx of out-of-town visitors coming to The 2017 Superbowl from other cities all over the U.S.  We will probably experience some long tangled traffic jams and difficulty in coming and going to places around town we routinely frequent. But please consider this event really gives the Houston area a chance to shine and show our hometime pride in a very positive manner.  Please be patient and show just how friendly and special our hometown really is to these visitors.

Any time such an event like this happens, everyone also has to be very aware of their surroundings.  There are those that take advantage of people for self gain and one needs to be aware of this.  Visitors please all be aware all local law enforcement agencies have plans in place to watch for and try to prevent such incidents from happening, but you will especially need to be alert on your own and take preventive measures to avoid scams and becoming a crime victim.  Especially be aware of skim devices on ATMS and gas pumps that could steal your personal information and identity.  Don't fall for something being offered that sounds to good to be true.  It usually is.  And keep track of your smartphones.

If you own a local business, please do all you can to show these visitors why Houston is so special.  A visitor could be so impressed by our diversity, and city and surrounding areas that this visit could inspire them decide to move and live here. If some stranger asks you for directions or other information, be friendly and try to help them out.

Give them a smile and a big Texas "Howdy," and let them know that Houston and surrounding areas are happy to have them visiting.  Enjoy the Superbowl and be safe this weekend.
