Houston Online Newspapers Group Launched

Houston Online Newspapers

HOUSTON, TX (April 15, 2014) - Fat Cat New Media is proud to announce today the launch today of Houston Online Newspapers.

As many community newspapers over the years have sold their operations to buyers from other countries/national chains, effectively taking money and profits away from the home communities they claim to be committed to covering, Houston Online Newspapers is solely dedicated to publishing Houston-area locally-owned and operated online-only newspapers.

CEO Bob Gunner has a strong background in development and publishing of traditional daily and weekly newspapers in the Houston-area, including The Houston Chronicle, Houston Community Newspapers and many more. Gunner has also worked as a cluster web content manager and managing editor for Clear Channel Radio, and Bayou City Media. He has been involved in the transition of news presentation from print to digital from the introduction of the open Internet. With the rapid adoption of Smartphones and Tablet computers, Gunner has helped to develop responsive publication practices to help distribute local news to the masses, while not losing the vision of what the community and local small business expects from a community newspaper.

The flagship publication is The Paper Magazine a five-year-old online-only Community Newspaper Serving The Woodlands, Spring, & North Houston, Texas areas. They Mash Traditional and New Media Journalism and have a staff of editors/journalists and community reporters/columnists who help us to bring timely and relevant content to our site on a 24/7 basis. Their statistics for 2013 were as follows: 428,318 Visitors, 3,405,698 Pageviews and 174,495 Unique Visitors. Houston Online Newspapers has plans for launching 20 new online community newspapers for the Houston-area in 2014.
